Lauren & Chance-Engaged!

In 2009 Chance walked into the Pharmacy School at Lipscomb University and chose a seat next to the pretty girl whose smile was able to light up the room. This pretty girl was Lauren and the two hit it off right away and quickly beame best friends. In December 2009, their relationship passed the best friends mark and they were officially dating.

Over the next year they grew even closer, sitting by each other in every single class, studying together and then spending their free time together. By the Summer of 2011 Chance was ready. He wanted to make sure that this girl who sat by him in all of his classes would continue to be at his side every. single. day. Forever.  Chance had learned how close Lauren was to her family and what a tight bond she had with them.  He also learned how much Lauren loved pictures and being sure to capture memories of everything so he wanted to be sure and incorporate both of those into his proposal.

On July 4th Chance popped the question with Lauren’s Mom and Dad hiding in the woods nearby taking  pictures of the surprise proposal.   He thoughtfully made sure she had the most important people in her life by her side and that she would have photos to preserve the memories. Naturally, she said YES and in only two short weeks they will be tying the knot in a beautiful Nashville wedding that I cannot wait to be a part of!

I met Lauren and Chance in Nashville for their engagement session and we had such a great time (at least I did!) We started out at the Ellington Agricultural Center and had beautiful fall weather.

How cute is her style? Love it!

From there we made a quick outfit change and then onto Lipscomb where it all began…

These swings are scattered all over the campus and there is an old saying that goes along with them:

”Three swings and then a ring”

I begged asked if they could get us into a lab to do a few photos and Chance found an open door for us. I really love it when couples are up for anything!

Lauren and Chance thank you so very much for asking me to be your photographer! I cannot wait to see all of the beautiful things you’ve planned for your wedding!

Brea

I remember teaching the 1st & 2nd grade class at church and there was a beautiful little blond-haired girl who barely said a word.  She was the sweetest little thing and was also the object of affection for many of the little boys. They all wanted to sit by Brea.

Ten years later and she’s still a beautiful blond who’s soft spoken and just as sweet as she can be. It’s clear where she gets it too. Her mom Denise is as good as they come. I don’t know that I’ve ever met a sweeter, more considerate person than her. She is a wonderful example and someone I look up to so it was such a huge compliment that they trusted me to do Brea’s photos. Thank you so much ladies!

She makes me want to have brown eyes. Brown eyes just photograph so beautifully.

 She is soooo photogenic

Would you believe we were under an overpass? Yep. The background was so pretty it almost looked like a backdrop. We used the overpass for shade and it worked out perfectly!

This is my absolute favorite! What girl would jump right in the water and sit down on a wet rock to get a shot? Brea would. That’s who. What a trooper. Hiking back to the car in soaked bluejeans is not an easy task folks but I think it was definitely worth it.

Thank you so much Brea! I really enjoyed photographing you and can’t wait to see what your future holds!

A LITTLE FRIDAY RAMBLING

I’m caught up!! Every single session I’ve shot has been edited and galleries sent. Whew. This is not a common occurance so I am celebrating! I do still have some discs to burn and an album to finish up but the editing is up to date-yay!

Unfortunately this will be a short-lived celebration…between now and next weekend I have 6 sessions, a wedding, 3 tball games and 2 doctor appointments.  Of course that’s on top of my regular 40 hours at the day job. YIKES!

Breathe Alicia, just breathe…

So that’s why I’m celebrating my caught-upedness (new word!) today. I’ve tried to take advantage of my light(er) week and it’s been super productive I think! Not only have I caught up on editing but I’ve got several blogs loaded and ready to hit publish on (trying to plan ahead for these crazy upcoming weeks!) I designed and ordered 2 invitations, placed 4 different print orders attended 4 ball games, handled the “team mom” fundraising duties, chatted with 2 potential brides, booked 3 sessions, took K to the hospital for tests, celebrated my Mamaw’s 87th birthday and even went on a field trip to the zoo! PLUS- I got in bed before midnight at least 3 nights!!

Oh, and caught a cold-blah.

So, yep, that’s a light week for me. People ask me all the time “How do you do it all?”

The only answer I can come up with is that I am blessed with having amazingly patient people in my life. My clients are just spectacular. They are so understanding and supportive of my insane lifestyle and there are several who have even made it a personal mission to help releive some of my chaos. Thank you. Thank you and thank you. I so love that almost all of my clients I end up calling friends.

I have the best friends.ever. I have so many friends that I would consider best friends and that I know I could call at a moments notice and they’d be there.

My co-workers are the bomb diggity. And yes, I know no one says that but they would appreciate it:) Y’all just don’t realize how goofy we are at work.

And of course my crazy life would be so much crazier without my amazing family.

My Parents a/k/a Granny & Papa who I depend on as much now as I did as a toddler I’m pretty sure.

My sister, Amanda and her husband Chris-how did I manage when they lived across the country? Uncle Daaaaniel (my kids pronounce it with a long A and that’s become his new name) who is the best brother/uncle I could hope for my kids to have.

This man who absolutely keeps me sane and makes it his personal goal that I’m always laughing or at least smiling:

And these two kiddos who I just pray will turn out somewhat well adjusted with such a crazy life as ours!

So this somehow turned into an award acceptance speech…hmm…isn’t it amazing how I can make such an art of rambling?

*Oh, and these are just random photos that I had in the blog library so I could easily pop them in. No discrimination all you clients, friends an family, I promise. They were an afterthought because it seems like for a photographer I post an awful lot of no-photo posts. I’m trying to do better about that too:)

Happy Friday all!

Hannah

Since all the Seniors out there will be graduating within the next month I decided I’m going to do my best to blog all my Senior sessions before that happens. I shot Miss Hannah’s session back in the summer when it was quite toasty. She is such a beautiful girl and was a natural in front of the camera.

She was up for anything too. While crossing the street to another location I said “Hey Hannah! Would you mind sitting in the street?!” She just plopped right down-white shorts and all! I love someone who’s willing to try anything.

This last shot is my fav, fav, favorite. I just love the angle and I think she looks so beautiful. Her blue eyes really pop with her blue shirt. Gorgeous!

Congratulations Hannah! I wish you lots of happiness in your bright future!

Bryson’s Pancake Party

Well, last month my little Pancakes turned 6. And what party theme is more fitting than a Pancake one?! I told you he really, really loves pancakes. Now you realize to what extent. You’d think a boy turning 6 would pick a superhero or sports theme but not Bryson. Pancakes all the way.

He put his order in early-he wanted a cake that looked like a stack of pancakes with butter and syrup on top. I decided that I was going to accept my limitations in time and talent and order the cake. See now I’ll let you in on a little secret. Deciding something in my mind(or too early)-that’s one of my crucial flaws. Once I’ve mentally done something I shelve it to make room for the next task. I jumped on it early-I booked Onyx (which is THE place to have a bday party according to the Looney kids) and I was excited because we could use his pancake session for invitations-it was going to be fantastic!

Fast forward 2 months and it’s the week of the party when I realize…I haven’t invited anyone to his party (I’m going to have to facebook, email and text people)…I haven’t gotten any party supplies-(I’ll run to Target the Friday before on my lunchbreak)…I NEVER ORDERED A CAKE! (It’s okay, it can’t be that hard to make a pancake cake right?)

Oh, and his tball coach (a/k/a my husband, Jay) informs me two days before just after we were discussing when I was going to do all of the above tasks that they he’s scheduled a tball practice game for Saturday. Really? REALLY? As if it wasn’t hectic enough-this is my life people.

So I stayed up till 2am working on the cake and then we went straight from the ballfield to the party but it ended up being perfect. Luckily some kids showed up and I think the cake turned out pretty stinkin’ cute if I do say so;)

Jay thought I was crazy-a cake with no real icing? But the “syrup” was a thin icing and the “butter” was homemade icing that I gave everyone an extra glop of with their slice of cake.

Yet something else I made that Jay rolled his eyes at but I was super proud of these-perhaps even a bit braggadocious. They’re supposed to look like bacon & eggs-how cute is that?!

Caroline’s daddy, Stuart was such a trooper. I doubt he’ll ever come back to a children’ s party ever again. They climed him like a ladder and I know he had to be sore the next day.

Allie and Logan really hit it off. This picture was just too cute not to share.

Kynsley and Gracie on top. Kynsley really thinks she’s a part of the KG class. The girls are so sweet to her too.

Fabulous Aunt Amanda and Ryan on bottom. We’re so glad to have Amanda back in Alabama this year so she could bring her family to the party!

Brooke and Bryson. My kids love Brooke and Al just like they were family (and so do Jay & I:) You know they’re good friends when they come to kids birthday parties that they don’t have to attend.

Bryson is the best gift opener. It doesn’t matter if it’s an awesome new toy, pajamas or a pack of string cheese he gets SO excited. He really just appreciates everything and I love that.

Thank you so much to all the attendees! And I later found out that some of you never got the facebook message and I’m so sorry about that! I’ll *try* to plan a little earlier next time. I may even give you a week’s notice!

Oh, and one last thing. I’m borderline embarrased that these pics are all logoed up. Blogstomp is so amazingly fast that I’m just too lazy to prepare blog images another way so the logo is put there automatically. I do fully realize that these are just party snapshots. I promise I’m not trying to be all diva about it:)

Happy Wednesday everyone!
